abisko - nikkaluokta pt III

Just a few more then ... :)

I just got a crazy phone call. Ok, so the call itself wasn't crazy, but I got a litte crazy. Turns out I got in after all. So a whole year of nothing but jazz singing ahead of me :)

a cottage in nikkaluokta

We arrived early in Nikkaluokta, a village of 30 people, and rented this small cottage for the night (our bus wasn't leaving until the next day). Nikkaluokta may well be one of the strangest places I have ever been to. I can't imagine living what it's like living at a place like this, and it was a strange experience to be passing through.

abisko - nikkaluokta pt IV: typography

There was a lot less typography on this trip than in Rome, quite naturally, but the little I found was not less beautiful and inspiring.

(can't help it - they're playing in town tonight and I can hear parts of songs now and then from my balcony. I don't care much for the hype but I consider With or Without You to be one of the best songs ever written.)

abisko - nikkaluokta pt II

When I said I wasn't going to post as many photos as I did after the Rome trip, I didn't say there wouldn't be any more. :) Cake | Satan Is My Motor

abisko - nikkaluokta pt I

I'm home now, back from a hike that has been - I don't know a good enough word for what it's been, amazing won't do. I love, love, love walking in the north of Sweden and intend to do so every year, as long as I can afford it and my legs will carry me. Of course it was difficult too, that day when it rained the whole day and I had put the wrong clothes on and I was wet and cold and tired the whole day, and then when my foot and knee started hurting ... But it is so worth it.

I'm going to try and not torture you with the same amount of photos I had after the Rome trip, but since my heel and knee are still hurting and I am a little stuck in this apartment (not that I'm complaining - I'm watching movies, learning to play the trumpet and totally enjoying myself), nothing much happens, so this is what I have to post, for now. :)

vacation coma

This week I've gone into some sort of vacation coma, focusing only on two things: working on my photography project and repainting the kitchen (it's looking FANTASTIC! I'll show you when the new shelves and curtains are up). Tonight Maria and I are going to see the new Harry Potter movie and tomorrow I'm off for my fjällvandring (hike in the Swedish mountains). See you in ten days!

hönö

I spent the weekend and a couple of weekday evenings at Hönö, staying with Anna in her family's sjöbod (boathouse?), going to great meetings (and some not so great) in the evenings, having time to talk and think and pray and sing. My back and shoulders are aching from sitting for several hours on hard wooden benches (together with 3000+ people in a rather large tent) and from walking around with a heavy backpack, but I feel blessed. I'm taking this day off from everything.

walk + photography thoughts

Took a lovely walk (and climb) with a lovely friend last night.

The photography class I'm taking is seriously brilliant. It's so inspiring, not just about photgraphy, but about my creative work in general, including my singing and well, my everyday life.

The more I research the more inspired I get, and the more inspired I get the more convinced am I that my project idea is going to TOTALLy WORK. And I'm so tired of all my "not good enough" thoughts - the "I have so many friends who are more talented at photography, are they going to laugh at my feeble attempts at something artistic?" and "I'm so boring, this has all been done before" and "why are my ideas so naive and simple when everyone else is working with such complex stuff". I'm sick and tired. I am so proud of my work so far (can't show you just yet, but I will!) and it is complex and rich, to me. Which makes it worth while.
