Minor Swing this year (our annual international balboa event in Gothenburg) was SUCH A DELIGHT.
It was everything I want from social dancing, three nights in a row: Brilliant music, enough people to feel like a party but not feel too crowded, loads of good friends and acquaintances from other dance scenes visiting as well as a core of my closest friends to share the joy with, but most importantly: A warm, cosy, open atmosphere. I had such wonderful flow in my dancing and I got to share it with some truly incredible dancers. I can't even remember the last time I had both great dancing and lots of it at the same time - it must have been many months ago. The best sign of this is that on the tram home from Sunday night, I turned to my friends and said "so when can we go to the next event?!". The urge to book a new event right away is something I mostly remember from my most intense days of blues dancing love. :)
I brought my camera on Sunday night, just for fun. Took photos of a few of my dear friends dancing:
Tove & Uli (Ulrich and I realised we've been friends for nine years this year! Dance life is weird! I need to go to Berlin soon and visit.)
Frida & Mikael
Nina & Tobias
Elias & Frieda
Liam & Saška
This is a smile that Liam gives me often when I take photos of him dancing, and it means "I see you and I love you".
The live band on Sunday was Cats & Dinosaurs. They are so good! (I know, I'm biased, since most of them are my friends - but they are amazing humans AND musicians! :))
Ah, to have an entire wind section hype you up when you are playing a banjo solo! :)
Mio. Doesn't she have the most beautiful smile? How could you not be smitten by her radiant joy, I want to know.
There was time for resting and hanging out as well, and I had many lovely chats and catch-ups. Like with Rickard.
Karin is warm!
One's neck needs some air as well.
These two cutie pies <3
And some more dancing:
Hanna & Nicole
Duncan & Johanna
Frieda & Liam
Tobias & Elin
And then, late at night, some cocktails and company and silliness and laughter on the couch with this stellar gang: Tove, Christin, Patrik and Karin. What a joy it is to get to share my dance life with these fabulous humans!
