light across the mersey

Wednesdays are Mersey Swing days, and last Wednesday, Liam was teaching and we had dinner with friends planned, so we decided to go up to Liverpool a bit earlier than usual.

We had a yummy lunch at the Egg and then I left this cutie there to work while I went for a walk.

It must be difficult to be Liverpool and have the weight of the Beatles constantly on your shoulders. But this particular bit of Beatles related art, I quite liked.

I'm really enjoying getting to know Liverpool better.

Liverpool is pretty in general, but this bit is my favourite. I love walking along the docks, and look at this light! I want to eat it!

After my walk we met up with Mersey Swing friends at Pen Factory.

And then it class time with Jane and Liam, before heading home again (well. We also stopped at the pub for a drink with a group of dancers before going home, because as you know it is impossible to ever do anything in this country without stopping at the pub).

More from my autumn break here.

my autumn break

I've had a wonderful twelve days in the UK. It's been so relaxed, I've had a proper autumn break with long walks and a lot of quiet time just like I wanted. These are some photos from one of my first days here, walking around Chester while Liam was at work. Now that we've decided not to live in Chester in the spring (much excite!), I needed to squeeze the last drops out of this stunning city with its black and white architecture, its famous Rows, its Roman city walls.

We've been to Bristol, as you've already seen; we've spent time with Liam's family in Birmingham; we've to Liverpool and to Manchester and to Wales - I have so many photos to show you from all this. I also managed to pull a muscle in my chest (!?!) while I was asleep (!?!?!?!?) witch kept me in bed for almost two days (moving my chest even the tiniest bit was quite painful, but it healed itself and I'm fine now). Most of all we've spent time at home. Watching films, eating pizza, talking, talking, talking. Can you believe it's been almost a year and everything is still just getting better and better? 100% recommend.

a weekend in bristol

I'm currently in the UK over my autumn break, and Liam and I spent last weekend in Bristol, for Bristol Bal Loon Exchange. I keep forgetting that it's difficult to show up completely new to a scene and not know anyone; I didn't dance half as much as I would have wanted to, despite having a good afternoon dance on Saturday. Also, I was quite sleep deprived and low energy when I got there, which obviously never makes for a great dance event. With that said, the event itself was lovely, as was Bristol. Despite being generally moody, I took some photos. Here they are:

We danced on a boat!

Cute.

I really enjoyed my morning walks in Bristol, and I really enjoy getting to see more of the UK. I've been to so many pretty places just because I fell in love with Liam, and there's so much more to see in this beautiful country. I love it.

Sunday afternoon dancing.

The light was pretty

and even though I didn't do a lot of dancing, I got to hang out with these gorgeous people.

team gothenburg & swingin' spring teachers

Looking through photos from the past few months I realised that I had a few photos that I liked and hadn't shown yet, from a performance at Swingin' Spring in June. The Gothenburg team at Camp Savoy had a battle style performance with the Swingin' Spring teachers, and I loved it so much. If you have a few minutes to spare I can really recommend watching this performance (to live music by Gentlemen & Gangsters), there's so much joy in it, it's a delight.

And here are my photos of the performance:

All my other Swingin' Spring photos can be seen here and blog posts with dancing in general here.
