two weeks in the uk

We went to the UK!

It's early May, it's spring, and Liam and I just got back from a two week trip to the UK. (Plus three nights in Helsinki after that, but that feels like an entirely separate trip even though we didn't go home in between, so that's for another blog post.) We're exhausted, in love and so, so happy.

We went to Edinburgh, Leeds, Brownhills, Peak District, Manchester and London. We went to a wedding celebration, a funeral and a birthday brunch. We went out for dinner with dear friends, we went to a big dance weekender and a local social dance, we had a delightful pint of stout in a London pub. We visited two science museums (but were disappointed in both) and did an escape room. I hiked up Arthur's Seat with a bunch of friends and Liam tore a calf muscle in a cèilidh (but is pretty much fine now). We went to some truly great parties.

We've been utterly spoilt by everyone we visited; people have taken time off work just because we were coming or taken time out of their day to go for lunch or dinner with us, hosted us in their homes, cooked us meals, joined us for walks and daytrips, taken us to the local pub, told us about their lives; I'm too grateful to properly express it.

We drove through some magical landscapes, stopping often to take photos. We had delicious, slow breakfasts as well as boring sandwiches on the go. We spent quite a bit of time in various comfy hotel beds watching Grand Designs on Channel 4 and eating Percy Pigs. Most importantly, we hugged some of our most favourite humans in the whole world.

It was an absolutely wonderful holiday.

Expect many more photos and words, but for now, I'll just leave this here:
